For this build we are going to use two routers both from Porter Cable. The two
routers that we have selected are the Porter Cable 7310 and 450. The specs for
both are listed below. There are a few reasons that we selected these routers.
This build is using a table-top / bench top machine as the basis for the build.
The smaller size table can use a smaller router with no loss in ability or performance.
The amp draw is kept low keeping this system fully functional off a standard 115
outlet. Both the 7310 and the 450 are time tested and reliable units and are perfectly
suited for this. Precision Plasma includes the mount for the 7310 as part of the
standard package.
While it is possible to use other routers with this system additional custom mounts
would have to be created to accommodate routers of different styles or brands.
Both of these Routers use the ¼ collet which is perfect for the materials and size
of the objects we will be working with.
